While waiting for a funeral service to start recently, I listened to the pianist selection of songs.  She played some wonderful songs including "What a Friend", "Sweet Beulah Land", "What a Day That Will Be", however, she started playing this song and my heart just filled with praise for our Lord.

The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen could ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell
The guilty pair bowed down with care God gave His Son to win
His erring child He reconciled and pardoned from his sin.

O love of God how rich and pure
How measureless and strong
It shall forevermore endure
The saints and angels song.

My favorite verse of the song is this one:

Could we with ink the ocean fill and were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill and every man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole tho' stretched from sky to sky

I come from a childhood where love was very conditional and if I didn't do things just right, well, let's just say I didn't feel the love.  When I got saved, I felt like I had to do something to be worthy of God's love.  In addition, if I wanted to "keep" God's love in my life, I'd better behave. One of the hardest things for me to comprehend to this day, is how and why the Lord loves me but I'm so glad He does.  It took awhile for me to get this through my thick skull but in my darkest days, He loves me.  When I'm on the top of the world, He loves me.  When my mouth gets engaged before my brain, He loves me.  When I'm sad, He loves me.  When I get angry (as redheads tend to do), He loves me.  When my heart is broken, He loves me.  No matter where I find myself, He loves me.  What a blessing!
